GLS Overview
GLS is in the business of designing, deploying
and managing VPN and Wide Area Networks for over 750 customers
in 20 countries. GLS owns and operates its own network operations
center on a 24x7 basis from Charlotte, North Carolina. GLS
provides a full suite of managed and monitored network and
security offerings including managed Frame Relay, VPN, Internet,
Email, and Intrusion Detection. Managed offerings include
the management and monitoring of the various network connections
and the CPE which includes Routers, Hubs, Switches, Firewalls,
IDS devices, and network servers.
GLS customer care and the network operations
center help desk which are supported by an online network
and project management program, U.Connect, work together to deliver
a superior customer experience. Clients are kept apprised
of all aspects of their network through U.Connect modules;
order status, network management, trouble tickets, bandwidth
utilization and customer requests. GLS combines terrific customer
care, superior network deployment and management with best
in class pricing to deliver the total cost of ownership that
is second to none.
Network Deployment: Each network deployment
is managed by a GLS project manager who is solely responsible
for the project and is the single point of contact. The project
manager is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all
aspects of the network deployment which include:
- Overseeing the entire implementation
from provisioning to management
- Daily interaction with carriers to ensure
seamless installation
- Daily status updates to GLS proprietary
U.Connect online system
- Proactively works with all parties to
resolve implementation jeopardies identified through exception
reports
- Resolving billing issues
The project manager works closely with a
GLS engineer who has an extensive knowledge base and certifications
from Cisco, SonicWALL, Efficient, and Checkpoint products.
The GLS engineer performing the following functions:
- Requesting equipment components from
inventory for site
- Configuring and testing hardware based
on customer’s requirements
- Performing turn-ups on day of installation
